Shams 1 mirrors (RP3 mirrors) are sourced from Flabeg, the leading player in the industry with an extensive track record. Flabeg began development in solar mirrors in the 1970s. The first CSP plants, which were built in California in the 1980s, demonstrated the efficiency, quality and durability of Flabeg products. Flabeg also provides solar mirrors for solar tower systems, heliostats and parabolic dish systems.
Flabeg currently produces two sizes of parabolic trough solar mirrors (RP2 and RP3), both of which have extensive operational performance. Between 1983 and 2009, the RP3 was installed at 29 sites in Spain (including Andasol 1 and 2; Extresol 1, 2 and 3; and Manchasol 1 and 2), the United States and Egypt.
