In June 2019, Shams Power Company successfully achieved 1 million man hours without lost time injuries (LTI). LTI is defined as an occurrence that results in a fatality, permanent disability or time lost from work during a certain period of time. This achievement demonstrates the company’s leading role in the global solar industry and highlights the emphasis placed on safety in the plant management process at Shams.
“Reaching 1,000,000 work-man hours without LTI is not something that anyone can achieve. It makes it even harder with the complexity of process in our plant, the involvement of many contractors, the criticality and hazardous of the activities that has been completed over the years including more than two outages. This would not have been possible without the proper mindset, the supervision of all critical activities, and the adherence to HSE policies and procedures,” said Majed Al Awadhi, General Manager, Shams Power Company.
To celebrate this achievement, Shams hosted a gathering at the Western Hotel in Madinat Zayed, where appreciation gifts were distributed to all employees in recognition of their accomplishments.
